Kubera
- Pulastya: son of Brahma.
- Brahma marries Trinabindhu.
- Trinabindhu + Brahma = Vishrava (Kubera).
- Brahma intrigued by Kubera and makes him the guardian of the world and of wealth.
- gives him the flying chariot, and advises him to live in Lanka.
Lanka
- Vayu: wind god.
- Vasuki: cosmic serpent.
- Vayu blew Vasuki off the peak of the mountain.
- made it land in the sea (origin of Lanka) - home of the rakshasas.
Rakshasas
- Brahma felt hungry and gave birth to Praheti.
- Praheti: yaksha, Heti, rakshasa.
- Heti's son married Bhaya, sister of Yama.
- son of Heti is Vidyutkesa and abandoned the baby.
- traveled to Lanka and lived in a city built of pure gold designed by Vishvakarma.
Lanka in India
These are some of the temples located around the area and showcase the amount of devotion that people give to the gods and goddesses they believe in and pray to.

Kubera in Lanka
- many gods went to Vishnu for help.
- Vishnu rode on Garuda, killed Mali with chakra.
- Vishnu vowed to destroy them in Lanka so rakshasas fled to Patala (underworld) and abandoned Lanka which ended up ruling yakshas as their king.
Dashagriva
- Sumali seeked Kubera's wealth and made Kaikesi (daughter of Vishrava) father of Kubera.
- four children = Shurpanakha (daughter), Dashagriva, Kumbhakarna, Vibishana (sons).
- Vibhishana = powerful one amongst the four.
- Dashagriva cuts off one of his heads to gain power while other brothers do similar things.
- also asks for immortality but Brahma doesn't allow it so he continues to ask for other requests and Brahma declines all the favors he asks of him.
Kubera Leaves Lanka
- Sumali makes grandson Dashagriva get Lanka back from the owner, Kubera.
- doesnt want to fight half brother but changes his mind when seeing how everyone is at war.
- Kubera agrees to return Lanka to Sumali and rakshasas.
- Vishrava urges Kubera to go to Himalayas and builds Alakapuri.
Dashagriva Attacks Kubera
- Dashagriva leads Rakshasas into war with devaloka (home of gods).
- he believes that the time has come to attack Alakapuri.
- Manibhadra (Kubera's minister) falls in battle.
- Kubera duels with Dashagriva.
- Kubera uses an Angeyastra (agni-weapon of fire) where in return, Dasagriva fights with a Varunastra (varuna-weapon of water).
- Kubera cannot be killed
- Dashagriva overwhelms him and steals Pushpaka.
Rama Defeats Dashagriva
- Rama = avatar of Vishnu.
- builds a bridge to Lanka and defeats Dashagriva.
- Dashagriva known as Ravana - killed in battle.
- Vibhishana - king of Lanka (Ravana's brother).
- Rama flies the Pushpaka back to Ayodhya and gives the chariot back to Kubera.
