Reading Notes : Week 2 Anthology

The Foolish Rabbit
- the rabbit who heard a sound of the earth falling apart told others the first thing that came to his mind without investigating the reasoning behind it or what actually happened.
- the lion went to take a look and found out that it was just a coconut that had fell and nothing else.

The Two Turtles
- the plot of this jataka was to show that the turtles had said exactly what and where they wanted to go to the people who captured them and was let out into the river.

Turtles and the Geese
- the turtle had one job and couldn't keep his mouth shut which is why he was dropped from the geese's mouth and fell dead onto the floor.

Cunning Crane and the Crab
- this story reminds me of the saying "treat others the way you want to be treated" and to be nice to people and you will get nice things in return. If you do not treat people nicely, then you will face the consequences. this is what happened to the crane - he ate up all the fish after luring them out of the water and tricking them which in return made him get killed by the crab.

Monkey Gathering Lotuses
- this is just like the previous story where if you do tricky things to benefit yourself then you will get the consequences as did Bodhisatta.

Unruly Monks
- this story's plot is about the monks who couldn't take care or live with the cock and killed it because of the odd hours and rules that they had to follow. they lied to their professor about how it died because they were the ones who killed it.

storytelling picture

this shows that there are many different stories and tales that are told in india and all over the world that help many students, children, families bond with their families and other people and to bond with the culture and tradition.
